Case study: Bea and Hannah do the Santa in the City run

Hannah is a team manager at one of LDN London’s services. She decided to do the Santa in the City 5km run with Bea, who she supports. She helped to push Bea, who is 93 years of age, along the course.

Hannah says that she signed up for the event as she thought it was a great opportunity to fundraise, as well as giving Bea a new experience. “Bea has a big heart so as soon as I explained that it was to raise money for people in need, she was all in”, she explained.

She says that Bea was a bit unsure when the event began as she’d never seen a sponsored run before, but after the first half she seemed to understand and got excited. Bea shouted at people as they went past and encouraged Hannah when she went too slow, she says.

“People running past us were cheering so much and cars were honking their horns, which Bea found hilarious”, Hannah says. “Once we made it to the end I was knackered, but seeing how happy Bea was with the medal made it so worth it.”

Hannah and Bea raised £185 for LDN London through their brilliant effort.

Case study: Luke’s readathon

Luke, aged 5, read 36 books in a day as part of the 3.6 challenge.

Although he does not really like reading, he wanted to raise money for us and challenge himself.

He read from the moment he woke up until going to sleep and raised an amazing £600 for LDN.

Luke said, “I really enjoyed doing this challenge. It was really hard, and I had to read all day, but I did it!”
