We are now seeking a passionate, knowledgeable, and empathetic Caseworker to join our Islington SENDIAS (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Information, Advice and Support) Service. This is a vital role supporting families to navigate the complexities of the SEND system and championing self-advocacy and inclusion for children and young people aged 0–25.

What You’ll Do

• Provide high-quality, impartial advice and support to parents, carers and young people with SEND via phone, email, face-to-face, and community outreach.
• Help families understand and navigate EHCP assessments, reviews, and appeals.
• Deliver group workshops, coffee mornings and SEND awareness sessions in schools, Family Hubs, and community venues.
• Support young people with SEND to develop self-advocacy skills and participate in shaping their own support.
• Work closely with education, health and social care professionals to promote early resolution and inclusive practice.
• Keep accurate case records and contribute to service monitoring and reporting.
• Promote safeguarding, confidentiality and best practice at all times.

Who We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who is kind, confident, empathetic, and committed to upholding the rights of families and young people. We welcome applications from all backgrounds and particularly encourage applications from individuals from marginalised global majority communities, so that our team better reflects the families and young people we support. You should have:

• Experience supporting families or young people with SEND on a 1:1 or group basis.
• Knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice, Children and Families Act 2014, and related legislation.
• Strong communication, organisational, and IT skills, with experience of using CRM systems (e.g. Charity Log).
• A flexible and proactive attitude, with the ability to manage a varied caseload.
• Experience of working with diverse communities and understanding barriers to accessing services.
• A Level 3 qualification (or equivalent experience) in a relevant area (e.g. education, health, or social care).
• IPSEA Level 1 qualification (or willingness to complete alongside level 2 and 3 within 12 months).
• A commitment to safeguarding and working in a confidential, impartial and inclusive way.
