Make a Difference with LDN London

Would you like to make a difference for families in Islington? For over 60 years, LDN London has been empowering people with learning disabilities to stay healthy, be safe, and live well. We are proud to deliver family-centred services that make a lasting impact on children, young people, and their families.

We are now seeking a passionate, knowledgeable, and empathetic Caseworker to join our Islington SENDIAS (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Information, Advice and Support) Service. This is a vital role supporting families to navigate the complexities of the SEND system and championing self-advocacy and inclusion for children and young people aged 0–25.

Why Join Us?

  • Be part of a highly respected, impartial service that empowers families and young people to understand their rights and participate fully in decisions about their support.
  • Work at the heart of a collaborative, child-friendly borough and help improve educational, health, and social outcomes for children and young people with SEND.
  • Deliver impactful advice and casework across a diverse and dynamic community.
  • Access continuous training and professional development, including IPSEA-accredited SEND law training.
  • Make a real difference every day by equipping families with clear, impartial information and advice, building trusted relationships, and helping them navigate the SEND system with confidence.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide high-quality, impartial advice and support to parents, carers and young people with SEND via phone, email, face-to-face, and community outreach.
  • Help families understand and navigate EHCP assessments, reviews, and appeals.
  • Deliver group workshops, coffee mornings and SEND awareness sessions in schools, Family Hubs, and community venues.
  • Support young people with SEND to develop self-advocacy skills and participate in shaping their own support.
  • Work closely with education, health and social care professionals to promote early resolution and inclusive practice.
  • Keep accurate case records and contribute to service monitoring and reporting.
  • Promote safeguarding, confidentiality and best practice at all times.

Who We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who is kind, confident, empathetic, and committed to upholding the rights of families and young people. We welcome applications from all backgrounds and particularly encourage applications from individuals from marginalised global majority communities, so that our team better reflects the families and young people we support. You should have:

  • Experience supporting families or young people with SEND on a 1:1 or group basis.
  • Knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice, Children and Families Act 2014, and related legislation.
  • Strong communication, organisational, and IT skills, with experience of using CRM systems (e.g. Charity Log).
  • A flexible and proactive attitude, with the ability to manage a varied caseload.
  • Experience of working with diverse communities and understanding barriers to accessing services.
  • A Level 3 qualification (or equivalent experience) in a relevant area (e.g. education, health, or social care).
  • IPSEA Level 1 qualification (or willingness to complete alongside level 2 and 3 within 12 months).
  • A commitment to safeguarding and working in a confidential, impartial and inclusive way.
