Who we are: 

LDN London is an award-winning charity with over 60 years’ experience of supporting people with learning disabilities to stay healthy, be safe and live well.  We are at an exciting phase in our development, having just changed our name to reflect the work we do across London.

We currently have a vacancy for a Service Manager at our service in Camden.  The service is located at the back of Kentish Town West overground station. Alternatively, it is less than 10 minutes’ walk from Kentish Town or Chalk Farm stations (Northern Line) as well as good buses connection.

The service includes two spacious ground floor flats allocated next to each other.  Both flats are wheelchair accessible, with several assistive technology in place to assist given support and care. There is a spacious garden in use as well as possibility for staff to use allocated parking space.  Both teams have a strong drive-in supporting people in community engagement, promoting their independence and are well known in local community.

About the role:

Working as part of a team you will be responsible for supporting approximately three young women in their late 20’s with Profound Multiple Learning Disability (PMLD).  You will also support five men with a variety of support needs who are 50 years old and over, which will be health focused but also maintaining their contribution and taking part in a community life.

You will be responsible for managing the service to ensure a high-quality support service to adults with learning disabilities is delivered.  Supporting the team and working with the people who use the service and their families to promote the LDN London’s core values and fulfil and further the aims and objectives of the service.

We are looking for a Service Manager with excellent organisational skills and someone who can manage a skilled team to meet complex support needs to a very high standard.

You will be working in partnership with our services users, families, professionals and other organisations; therefore, you must have excellent communication skills.

The ideal candidate should have a passion for supporting and caring, and the drive and energy to raise standards of support and service delivery.  You will be required to work various shifts depending on people we support, timetable and activities alongside your team. In essence there is always staff in the buildings, covering daytime hours between 8am-10pm as well as waking night staff and a sleep-in staff each night.  This is not a 9 – 5 management role.

About you:

We expect you to:

  • be computer literate
  • be able to work alternate weekends
  • be able to work “hands on” with your team
  • manage large and diverse team, involving rota management as well as holding service financial budget.
  • have experience working with people with learning disabilities
  • have, or are working towards, RMA/LMC, Health and Social Care NVQ4/QCF 5 or equivalent
