Who we are:

LDN London is an award-winning charity with 60 years’ experience of supporting people with learning disabilities to stay healthy, be safe and live well.

Kingsbridge Road is our respite service in Kensington and Chelsea for people with highly complex needs including mental health needs, autism and learning disabilities.  This is a critical service for families and their adult children needing a break and for people whose placements have broken down and new permanent housing needs to be sourced.

The service offers planned and unplanned accommodation to adults with learning disabilities and currently has 2 vacant Deputy Respite Manager positions. We are looking to recruit experienced Deputy Respite Manages to run the service.

About the role:

We require experienced, dedicated and skilled staff who want to work in a challenging, rewarding and exciting service. The role will provide you with an excellent opportunity to develop your potential, learn new skills and make a real and positive change to the lives of the people who use respite and their families and carers.  Some of the challenges include regular and short notice changeover of people they support often under crisis themselves; supporting new and emerging needs and providing specialist support to those with behaviours of concern .

We need individuals that know how to help someone have a nice break doing activities of interests in a risk managed way and then returning to their family home until they are guests again.

  • There are no sleep-ins at Kingsbridge Road but there are waking nights and we are asking that Deputy Respite Managers may need to cover some nights
  • Excellent communication is essential for all which includes shift leading, report writing, verbal and written handovers and reports.  This ensures no aspect of someone’s stay if lost in staffing changeover.
  • All team members are expected to work as a team on each shift. Looking after each other, acting as critical friends, supporting induction to each other and any new staff irrespective of if they are permanent, agency or sessional.  Reporting issues including maintenance problems but also problem solving with a positive attitude and can-do approach.
  • Deputy Respite Managers may take on specific lead in key areas such as Health and Safety, Activities, Bookings and stays, Maintenance and repairs and Rota as examples. Approximately 50% of the ARM role will be off shift.

You will be working in partnership with our services users, families, professionals and other organisations; therefore, you must be highly organised with strong communication skills.

The ideal candidate should have a passion for supporting and caring, and the drive and energy to raise standards of support and service delivery.  You must be willing to work alternate weekends and shifts alongside your team as this is not a 9 – 5 management roles.

Why join us:

We offer continuing opportunities for learning and development together with regular supervisions and support for all our staff.

  • Up to 38 days annual leave (including bank holidays)
  • Generous pension scheme
  • Season ticket loans
  • Family friendly policies and personal/professional development packages.

How to Apply:

To apply please submit your up-to-date CV to recruitment@ldnlondon.org.  Please also complete the supporting statement form using this link: https://forms.gle/gNtVHLUXrEAVB7t16.  You will need to provide evidence of how you meet the requirements on the person specification.

Note: all successful applicants will be DBS checked and must be able to provide employment or professional references covering the last three years.

LDN London is committed to equality, diversity, and inclusion and welcomes applications from all groups.
