Jeremy, Operations Manager shares his journey in working at LDN London
“It has been nearly 10 years since I joined LDN London and when I look back I feel grateful to have so many great memories of working with the wonderful people we support. Starting off as a support worker who had only done sessional care work in the past, I was fairly new to the job and had to learn quickly, but my team manager and the people we worked with soon got me up to speed. Before long I had the pleasure of supporting people on all aspects of their lives, from improving independence with cooking and cleaning to helicopter rides across Barcelona and clubbing holidays in Ibiza.
After a couple of years I felt confident enough to apply for an Assistant Team Manager role that I often saw advertised internally. That first day in my new service with a whole new group of people was daunting but again after a while with the right support and guidance from my manager and the organisation the job became hugely enjoyable, to the point where I felt I could apply for Team Manager and then, after a much appreciated sabbatical, eventually Operations Manager in 2020.
There have been many highs and lows but one thing that has rung true throughout is that the values of the organisation have shone through in each of my roles. I’ve met some wonderful people and continue to do so. I feel very grateful for the opportunities I’ve been given.”
